Let's Sail Away :)

I am starting to crave wamer weather, starting to think about being on the water, day dreaming about warm winds :) Sailing is a big part of my summer and Bedford Basin Yacht Club is where you'll find me on a day off :)

I was happy to do the photos for the club's new brochure, check it out, and come visit the club for one of their many amazing events !

I can't believe how fast she has grown. it's hard to believe she was only 5 months the last time we shot together. Time flies when you're having fun!

Winter Baby Belly :)

It's a new year and this is my first blog post of 2012. If I belived in making New Year's resolutions, I would promise to blog more. That normally doesn't work out for me, last years resolution was to be able to do a full wheel in yoga....still can't do it :)

Julie and Steve however have no problems with dedication, Julie is a bad-ass kettlebell and fitness instructor and Steve can run like the wind. They will have no problem keeping up with their new baby, when she comes along :)

We were holding out for snow for some beautiful outdoor photos, we finally got our wish, this is the result :)

Christmas is a great excuse to help the community in anyway you can, donate your time, money or services. Team up with an organization that you believe in, and give back in any way you can. There are many people, and animals less fortunate then we are, no matter what your situation is.

Over the past two weeks I donated my time to the SPCA to take Santa pics at two Pets Unlimited locations in the city. Which hardly felt like work at all, I have a huge soft spot for animals, so it was good fit. We had a blast and I was happy to be a part of it. It's all squeaky toys and treats :)

Daekyu and Kate | Surprise Halifax Engagement :)

Every day I feel lucky to be a working photographer and I love spending time with all my clients. Sometimes though you get to be a part of something extra special :) Daekyu contacted me a couple weeks ago looking to book a photo session for he and his girlfriend Kate. She thought they were coming in to do couples photos for his parents for Christmas, but he had another plan, he had a ring, and wanted to ask her to marry him. Yes, how romantic!!

I couldn't wait to do this shoot, and I am so happy for both of them.

She said YES :) Congrats guys!

Yoga for a Great Cause | Bedford

This Thanksgiving weekend 85+ people gathered in DeWolf park in Bedford to support The Empathy Factory, who teamed up with Breathing Space Yoga Studio to offer the first annual Breathing : Empathy outdoor yoga fundraiser. The weather could not have been better! Up to 26 degrees, sunny, and a slight breeze.

The Empathy Factory works to provide resources to Nova Scotia's youth to instil in them a sense of empathy, and to encourage them to be the new generation of generous, conscientious humanitarians.

Michelle Hicks owner and instructor at the Bedford Breathing Space location, lead a fantastic yoga practice, which was enjoyed by all levels of yoga enthusaists :) Joining the practice was the Charles P Allen Cheetas Football team! They were great sports and kept the atmosphere fun and light, moo-ing and all :)

In all it was a great event, and is sure to grow year by year!

Little Johan was in town all the way from Austraila, and stopped by the studio to be the cutest baby around :) He loved the camera and had no troubles bringing out the smiles for us. Maybe he knew he was leaving the cold behind and heading back to Austraila just in time for summer :)

Fall Family Photos

It's that time of year again, as much as I've been denying it, still wearing my flip flops and ignoring my chilly toes ;), but it's fall. It's a beautiful time of year, and as much as I love it, I'm also always surprised how quickly it arrives. Fall in Halifax is the perfect time for outdoor family photos, not too warm, beautiful light and scenery.

I've know Jenn for a few years now and took photos of her little Claire when she was just 10 days old. Now I had to chase her around to get a photo of her (and she's fast!). She's grown up so quickly.

I'm also thrilled to be shooting Jenn and Jared's wedding next summer.
